This park, which is adjacent to the state
border with Arunachal Pradesh, is famous as being a paradise
for ornithologists. Among the species to be found here is
the rare White Winged Wood Duck. It is also known as a good
destination for anglers with Mahasheer being found in the
rivers adjacent to the park
The park is composed of a mixture of
evergreen and semi-evergreen rainforest along with wetlands
and grass lands.
Nameri is famous not only for the
White Winged Wood duck but is also the home of a diverse
faunal population. The important wildlife found are
tiger, elephant, bison, bear, several different species
of deer, four species of Mahaseers, and more than
three hundred species of birds.
